Have you ever seen a football match being postponed or even abandoned? Although it doesn’t happen too often considering the number of games being played every single day, something like this still exists. So what happens to your wager if the game you backed is rescheduled or called-off.
Let’s use the UK as an example. There is actually a list of rules for such situations. Let’s go over them.
Generally, rescheduled matches could be divided into two categories: rescheduled within 48 hours of the original kick-off time and all the other ones.
As for the first ones, all the bets will remain relevant, unless:- All bets are voided if no reschedule confirmation is received within 3 hours prior to the original kick-off time
- In case of multiple delays that take in over the 3-hour limit, bets will remain relevant if the final decision will reschedule the match within 48 hours.
- All bets are voided if the match does not take place within the 48 hours of the original kick-off.
- In the case of multiples or accumulators that include such troublesome selections, the refund must be requested before the first selection kick-off.
- If the postponed match is a part of your acca, the bet will only count the remaining selections.
- Fixtures that have been altered enough in advance to adjust the live TV and any other possible congestions will not be considered postponed.
As for all the other cases:- All bets will be voided If no match takes place before midnight of the same day (local time).
- If the postponed match is a part of your acca, the bet will only count the remaining selections.
- Fixtures that have been altered enough in advance to adjust the live TV and any other possible congestions will not be considered postponed
Not that hard to remember. The set of rules primarily aims to resolve such situations in the most simple way.
We already know how to act in case of the rescheduled matches, however, what should we do if the match is completely abandoned? Please, take a look:
- In case of a match being abandoned, all the best that have already settled (HT score, first to score, etc.) will be counted according to the regular procedure. The rest of the bets will be considered a void regardless of the score-line at the moment of abandonment. Abandoned will be regarded as games that do not reach their natural conclusion on the calendar day.
- Matches, where referee removes the players from the field but resumes the game on the same calendar day, will not be considered abandoned.
Seems very straightforward, however, how such situations are handled if you are placing accumulators?
- Well, again, there is nothing to really worry about, as of these rules are based on common sense.
- If you backed a postponed match with a single, it would result in a void, and your stake will be refunded.
- If you backed a postponed match with a double, it would transform into a single (with the remaining selection). In case of both selections being postponed, the bet will result in a void, and your stake will be refunded.
- If you backed a postponed match with a treble, it would transform into a double (with the remaining selections). If any 2 selections are postponed, the wager will transform into a single (with the remaining selection). In case of all selections being postponed, the bet will result in a void, and your stake will be refunded.
- If you backed a postponed match with an acca, it would follow the same exact procedure as stated above.
