The bookmaker did not accept the bet from Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Mayweather bookmakerFew hours before the start of the most electrifying fight of the last few years, for all the champion belts of Floyd Mayweather Jr., the boxing champion wanted to place a bet on his win before the end of the regular time of the fight either by technical or classic K.O with Irish Mixed Martial Arts UFC champion, Conor McGregor. Mayweather was so sure of himself that he wanted to place half million dollars on his win before all the rounds finish. Unfortunately for him, the bookmaker did not accept his best, and as it turns out, it is not the first time the boxing champions placed a big money bet on himself or other sporting event, and also, it is not the first time that the bookmaker refused to get up that bet.

Record-breaking bets of Floyd Mayweather

We all know that apart from boxing, the thing that Floyd Mayweather Jr. loves the most is his lavish lifestyle which includes of course gambling. We would expect nothing less, from a sportsman that is one of the best paid athlete in the history of not only boxing, but any type of sport, to be nicknamed “The Money” as he draws the biggest crowds and the largest numbers of bets.

Before his fight with Conor McGregor, the boxing champion of five weight categories surprised once again. Floyd Mayweather entered one of the betting shops of more popular american bookmaker and asked for an opportunity to place a bet on a boxing fight. But wait, that is not all, Floyd Mayweather Jr. took 400 000 dollars from his pocket, put them on the table and said he wanted to place a bet on his win against the Conor McGregor in their upcoming fight before the end of the tenth round.

The confused and shocked employees of the bookmaker quickly attempted to analyse whether the bet is legal and whether they could even accept it. Finally, after some time, they denied accepting the bet and claimed it is illegal to bet on himself in the fight that he has influence on. But Floyd Mayweather Jr. is known for being a stubborn person and that did not stop him from going to another bookmaker, who, as the gossips tell, took up his bet and accepted it. It is still not clear which bookmaker accepted the bet or which type of bet or betting market The Money decided to go for, but probably it was once again his win before the end of regular time, so tenth round of this boxing match, and as we all know it, he won!

It must be said that the bet was later on confirmed as legal as the state of Nevada allows the boxers to place bets on their own fights!

It is also worth mentioning, that Floyd Mayweather Jr. is known for placing huge money bets on sports, including his own fights. and in the past, other bookmakers all denied him placing such bets. From the other hand, he won quite big amounts of money on other sporting events that did not include him as well as he supposedly lost about million dollars on American football bet back in the days.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. was not the only one who made fortune on this fight

This amount of money need to impress, but only on regular people and beginning punters. For Floyd Mayweather Jr., which has the estimated fortune of about billion dollars it is almost nothing. It is worth mentioning that for his previous fight he got 300 million dollars! Let us hope so that the forty-year-old record breaking champion, who is one of the few combat sports champions and the only professional boxer to end his career without a single loss, with 50 straight wins, will not end up as his predecessors, for example Mike Tyson, who lost their fortune after retiring from sport.

Furthermore, as it turns out, The Money was not the only one in Las Vegas to place money on his fight, which proved to be his last. Many people wanted to get easy money on his win and Mixed Martial Arts UFC champion from Ireland, Conor McGregor was debuting in this sport, and even though he proved to be a tough opponent, the experience and composure of Floyd Mayweather Jr. was vital and he ended the fight just as he wanted, by being smart. Back to the people who won quite a lot on Floyd Mayweather Jr. win, ESPN estimated that one of the punters placed a bet for the win of the American boxer with about  $1 200 000 which with the odds of 1.20 gave him $240 000. Another one, supposedly placed a bet for exactly one million and with a bit lower odds of 1.18, claimed “only” $118 000. Floyd Mayweather Jr. may be one of the richest and happiest people in the world, but he sure knows how to make other people rich and happy too!
