The clouds are gathering above the struggling Chelsea this mid-season, and
top online bookmakers are already counting days of Frank Lampard's managerial career with The Blues.
While the pressure is at its peak at the moment, Franky Lampard's chances of getting sacked are not quite as high as they might seem at first sight. Oddsmakers from one of the leading British online betting operators Betfair price up Lampard's chances of being the next Premier League manager to leave only at 4.33 (10/3). Despite all the pressure and media attention, Lampard is only the third-favourite to be sacked next, being behind Chris Wilder (Sheffield United) and Steve Bruce (Newcastle United), priced up at 3.00 (2/1) & 3.5 (5/2) respectively.
While Lampard is trying to avoid being fired at all costs, there is another growing threat coming from his former teammate Andrii Shevchenko. The former Chelsea striker has gained tons of attention from the market these past couple of days, with
Betfair currently giving the Ukraine boss the odds of 2.40 (7/5) to replace Frank Lampard at its post.
The reasoning behind Shevchenko's candidacy is quite clear. The former Ballon d'Or winner has led its home country to Euro 2020 qualification coming out of the group stage ahead of the defending champs - Portugal.
Everything seems to be at the right time for Shevchenko. However, are we going to see the disappointed Roman Abramovich making some major changes to his team? We are leaving it for you to discuss, but keep in mind, Chelsea is currently 7th in the Premier League and is given the odds of only 2.30 (13/10) to finish Top 4 this season.
What do you think? Are these the last days of Frank Lampard wearing his former team's colours? Is Shevchenko really a great fit for The Blues? Let us know your ideas down in the comments below.
