The bookmaker William Hill
has withdrawn from Switzerland following the amended law coming into effect on July 1. After a 73% majority vote, foreign operations are prohibited from offering their gambling products on the territory of Switzerland.
William Hill promised to pay out all the remaining ante-post bets at their full value or void them in case of losing.
Some customers were really worried about the change like for example, in the situation of a €1,500 bet on Ashleigh Barty to win the Wimbledon singles title at 34.00 (33/1). At one point it was almost voided. Considering the fact that the bet was placed before Barty won the French Open and her odds got cut to 4.50 (7/2) making her the #1 seed at Wimbledon, it would have been a significant loss for a tipster who placed the bet.
William Hill is not the only one having to be withdrawn recently. It was even said that it started a trend. Do you like the way bookmaker handled the situation?
