The 2019-2020 season seemed to be the Reds’ one from the very beginning. Only one team was on Liverpool’s way, and that is Machester City. However, that doesn’t look like a case anymore. Probably, the most anticipated football match not only of the Premier League season but the whole world was a crucial moment for the two giants.
The scene took place this Sunday when Liverpool was hosting the Citizens at Anfield. Unfortunately for Man City, the game did not go as planned, and they returned home with a 3:1 loss to who now seems to be an undisputed odds-on favourite to win this year’s Premier League title.
Top online bookmakers were pricing Liverpool’s chances of claiming the throne at the odds of
1.67 (67/100) back in October. Right after the important win, the Reds were priced at
1.40 (2/5) by the
bookmaker Coral and many others. Pep Guardiola’s squad still has some hopes but rather for the second place, currently being one point behind Chelsea and Leicester City. On the other hand, it is also rather unlikely that Jurgen Klopp’s side will give up a historical 9 point lead, despite only being 12 games into the season.
Are we going to see a three-peat from the Citizens or the first-ever title from the Reds?
